Five Facts to Know: Elon

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – The UNCW men's soccer returns to Colonial Athletic Association play on Saturday, Oct. 9, as the Seahawks venture up Interstate 40 to face Elon for a 7 p.m. fixture at Rudd Field.

UNCW, 7-3-1 overall and 2-1-0 in the CAA, is riding a four-game unbeaten streak after securing a 1-1 double overtime draw at Virginia on Tuesday afternoon. Junior midfielder Omar Aboutaleb got the scoring on Tuesday started in the seventh minute with his third goal in the last four games, while junior goalkeeper Gabriel Perrotta notched a career-high 14 saves.
 
Graduate student forward Nicolas Molina continues to lead the Seahawks with five goals and an assist, while Aboutaleb follows with 10 points on the strength of four goals and two assists. Perrotta paces the CAA with 57 saves in 11 games and has a .792 save percentage.
 
Elon, which dropped a 3-1 verdict at No. 3 Duke on Tuesday night, brings a 5-5-1 overall record and a 2-1-1 mark against league foes into Saturday's meeting. The Phoenix jumped out to a 1-0 lead over the Blue Devils in Tuesday's setback on a goal by senior forward Jack Edwards in the 16th minute, but Duke answered with three consecutive goals to earn the decision.
 
Edwards is the Phoenix's leading scorer with four goals, while Jeppe Jordoson has contributed two goals with an assist in 11 games. Redshirt junior goalkeeper Peter Wentzel has started nine games for the Phoenix, registering a 0.75 goals against average while stopping 80.0 per cent of the shots he has faced.

On a Roll – UNCW has won the last four meetings against Elon, giving the Seahawks a 6-5-2 advantage in the all-time series.
 
Brick Wall – Junior goalkeeper Gabriel Perrotta tallied 14 saves in Tuesday's draw at Virginia, which are the most by a UNCW goalkeeper since Bill Mills had 14 stops against James Madison in 2000.      
 
Trick or Treat – UNCW stands 7-1-2 in its last 10 October games following Tuesday's draw at Virginia. Since the start of the 2018 campaign, the Seahawks boast a 12-2-3 mark in October.
