WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Junior forward
Nathan Messer scored the game-winning goal in the 106th minute to give William & Mary a 2-1 double overtime victory over UNCW in Colonial Athletic Association men's soccer action at the UNCW Soccer Stadium on Saturday evening.
The win elevated the Tribe's record to 7-6-0 overall and 4-3-0 in the CAA. UNCW, meanwhile, dropped to 9-6-1 overall with an identical 4-3-0 mark in league play.
Messer gave William & Mary the victory with 4:47 remaining in the second overtime period with his fourth goal of the season. He made a long run down the sideline and eluded a UNCW defender before slipping a shot past junior goalkeeper

The Seahawks held the lead until the closing seconds of regulation when senior midfielder
John Eberle sent a shot towards the goal that was deflected by a UNCW defender, marking his first tally of the season.
Perrotta made four saves in the loss for UNCW, which outshot William & Mary by a 13-9 margin. Andrews tallied three saves in the win for the Tribe.
UNCW and William & Mary, who are tied for fourth place in the CAA standings, close the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 6. The Seahawks visit Hofstra at noon while the Tribe welcomes Elon.
