HEMPSTEAD, New York – UNCW became the first men's soccer opponent to hold No. 14 Hofstra without a goal in 17 games this season.
What was the Seahawks' reward? A scoreless draw in the regular season finale between the Colonial Athletic Association foes at Hofstra Soccer Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The tie moved the Seahawks' record to 9-6-2 overall and 4-3-1 in the CAA. Hofstra, meanwhile, finishes the regular season with a 14-1-2 record, including a 6-1-1 mark in league play.
Junior goalkeeper
Gabriel Perrotta fashioned his sixth shutout of the season with a six-save performance, including five stops in regulation, as the Pride outshot the Seahawks, 17-12.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Wessel Speel recorded four saves for Hofstra, which earned its fifth shutout in a row.
While Hofstra has already secured a berth in next week's CAA Championship, the Seahawks' fate for a postseason appearance will not be determined until the completion of Saturday's league games.
