Mallory Fobes posted an even-par 72 to lead UNCW during the second round of the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational at the Finley Golf Course on Saturday afternoon.
Led by Fobes, the Seahawks fashioned a 293 team score and are tied with NC State for 13th place entering the final round. Wake Forest took the team lead after shooting an impressive 11-under par and holds a four-stroke advantage over Virginia Tech.
Fobes, who carded a 2-over par 74 in the opening round, authored four birdies to post her fifth round of par or better this season.

Malu Brinker and senior
Phu Khine each shot 1-over par in the second round. Khine is tied with Fobes for 45th place at 2-over par for the tournament, while Brinker holds a share of 58th place at 4-over par (75-73=148).
Freshman
Anna Wills shot a 3-over par in the second round and stands 8-over par for the tournament.
The final round of the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational is set for Sunday, Oct. 17, with an 8:45 a.m. shotgun start.
