HEMPSTEAD, New York – Junior guard
JaKayla Brown led three Hofstra players in double figures with a game-high 22 points as the Pride secured a sweep of its Colonial Athletic Association weekend series against UNCW with a 59-48 victory at the Mack Sports Complex on Sunday afternoon.
Hofstra, which won its second game in a row following a five-game losing skid, moved its record to 6-10 overall and 4-6 in the CAA. UNCW stands 3-9 overall and 0-6 in the circuit following its eighth straight setback.
Brown, who tallied 20 points in the Pride's victory on Saturday, scored 16 of her 22 points after the intermission as Hofstra pulled away to earn the win. She converted 10-of-20 shots from the floor and added four rebounds with two assists and two steals.

Jahsyni Knight each added 12 points for the Pride, which shot 41.7 percent from the field.
Senior forward
Carol-Anne Obusek led UNCW in the loss with her third consecutive double-double. The Cary, N.C., product tallied 13 points with a game-high 11 rebounds.
Redshirt junior guard
Dazia Powell netted a team-high 14 points for the Seahawks on 5-of-15 shooting from the field, including a 3-for-9 effort from long range, while freshman guard
Mary McMillan chipped in 13 points.
Key Moment: Trailing by a 19-13 count after the opening period, Hofstra answered with a 21-7 run to claim a 34-26 lead the Pride did not relinquish. The Seahawks closed the gap to 45-40 on a McMillan free throw with 5:35 left in the fourth quarter, but were unable to get any closer.

- Hofstra now leads the all-time series by a 21-19 margin after sweeping the weekend series, including a 13-8 advantage at the Mack Sports Complex.
- The Pride outrebounded the Seahawks by a 44-39 margin and held a commanding 34-16 advantage in points in the paint.
- Obusek now has five double-doubles this season, which ranks second in the CAA.
- McMillan reached double figures in scoring for the sixth time in nine games this season, including the second time in her last three outings.
- McMillan also played all 40 minutes in the contest, marking a season high … She joined freshman forward Taylor Webster as the only Seahawks to play every minute in a game this season … Webster played every minute of the Seahawks' games against Drexel (Jan. 3, 2021) and at Delaware (Jan. 23, 2021).
- Powell posted her first double-digit scoring effort since Dec. 29, 2020, against Mercer … The Raleigh, N.C., native has reached double figures four times this season.
- Each team recorded 19 personal fouls in the contest, marking the first time this year UNCW has not committed fewer fouls than its opponent.
- The Seahawks employed their seventh starting lineup in 12 games this season as sophomore forward Nya Mitchels started … Mitchels finished the game with two points and six rebounds in 22 minutes.
- Sophomore forward Sunshine McCrae grabbed four rebounds while playing a career-high 16 minutes.
