HARRISONBURG, Virginia – Senior forward
Carol-Anne Obusek recorded her fourth consecutive double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds, but it was not enough as UNCW dropped a 79-55 decision against James Madison in Colonial Athletic Association women's basketball action at the Atlantic Union Bank Center on Tuesday afternoon.
The Seahawks, who played their first game since Jan. 31, dipped to 3-10 overall and 0-7 in the CAA. James Madison, meanwhile, upped its record to 11-7 overall with a 7-4 mark in the circuit.
Obusek paced four UNCW players in double figures with her 16-point effort after making 8-of-20 shots from the floor. The Cary, N.C., product also grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds, including seven on the offensive end, for her sixth double-double of the season.
Freshmen
Mary McMillan,
Sallie Vick and
Taylor Webster each added 10 points for the Seahawks. Webster also chipped in six rebounds while McMillan tallied five assists.
Freshman guard
Claire Neff came off the bench to lead James Madison with a game-high 19 points, knocking down 7-of-9 field goal attempts, including a 5-for-6 showing from three-point range.
Sophomore forward
Kiki Jefferson added a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds for the Dukes while freshman guard
Jamia Hazell and junior guard
Madison Green also reached double figures by scoring 12 and 11 points, respectively.
Key Moment: After battling to a 14-14 tie late in the first quarter, James Madison pulled away by going on a 12-2 spurt to take a 26-16 advantage with 5:46 remaining in the first half. The Dukes never trailed again and led by as many as 26 points in the fourth quarter en route to the victory.

- Tuesday's game was the Seahawks' first contest since a 59-48 setback at Hofstra on Jan. 31, 2021 … UNCW postponed its subsequent games against Elon and William & Mary due to a positive COVID-19 test within the Hofstra program.
- James Madison and UNCW met for the 77th time in a series the Dukes lead by a 67-10 margin … The Dukes have won 21 of the last 22 encounters, including the last four in a row.
- The Seahawks employed their eighth starting lineup in 13 games this season with Vick making her third start of the year … Webster is the lone UNCW player to start all 13 games.
- UNCW committed a season-low 10 turnovers against James Madison.
- Vick recorded the first double-digit scoring effort of her college career with 10 points against James Madison … The Wilmington, N.C., product sank all four of her field goal attempts, including both tries from long range, and grabbed four rebounds in a season-high 35 minutes.
- Junior guard Rinnah Green made her first appearance in a UNCW uniform, scoring eight points off the bench in 24 minutes … The Charlotte transfer was 3-for-8 from the field and converted both of her free throws while dishing out three assists.
- Obusek has posted five double-digit rebounding efforts in the last six games after her 13-rebound performance on Tuesday … In addition, she reached double figures in scoring for the fifth game in a row.
- In addition, Obusek is the first UNCW player to register a double-double in four consecutive games since Karneshia Garrett had four straight double-double efforts during the 2012-13 campaign.
