WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Sophomore
Janel Gamache blasted two home runs and drove in four runs to lead UNCW to a doubleheader sweep against Georgetown and Presbyterian as part of the UNCW Softball Invitational at Boseman Field on Friday afternoon.
The Seahawks, who upped their record to 6-14 on the season, earned a 9-1 victory over Georgetown in a five-inning contest before posting a 7-1 verdict against Presbyterian in the nightcap.
Gamache, one of five UNCW players to record two hits in the twinbill, hit a two-run home run in each contest to propel the Seahawks' 15-hit attack. In addition, she earned the win in the circle against Presbyterian after throwing 6.0 shutout innings while allowing just four hits and posting five strikeouts.

Anna Knox hit a three-run home run in the victory over Presbyterian while redshirt senior
Rachel Willis added her third homer of the season against Georgetown.
Senior
Rylee Pate earned the victory in the circle in the opener against Georgetown, conceding one unearned run on two hits while fashioning seven strikeouts with no walks.
Key Moment vs. Georgetown: UNCW used back-to-back home runs in the bottom of the second inning to build a 3-0 lead the Seahawks did not relinquish. Gamache hit a two-run shot to left center field to open the scoring before Willis followed with a solo home run to left center field just four pitches later. Georgetown trimmed the margin to 3-1 with a run in the fourth inning before the Seahawks added six runs over the final two frames to seal the victory.
Key Moment vs. Presbyterian: The Seahawks sprinted out to a 7-0 lead over the first five innings, including a five-run outburst in the fourth inning. Gamache belted a two-run home run and Knox hit a three-run shot in the fourth inning to spearhead the outburst.
