AUBURN, Alabama – Junior
Emily Langkamp registered a pair of hits and drove in two runs, but it was not enough as UNCW dropped a pair of games to Alabama State and Auburn during the second day of the Plainsman Invitational at Jane B. Moore Field on Saturday afternoon.
The Seahawks, who stand 1-7 on the season, lost by a 7-5 margin to Alabama State before falling to the host Tigers by an 18-1 count.
Langkamp recorded a hit in each game, including a two-run single in the second inning against Alabama State. She also added a double in the loss to Auburn.
Four other players tallied a hit in the doubleheader for the Seahawks.
How It Happened vs. Alabama State: Alabama State overcame a 3-2 deficit by scoring two runs in the third inning with a pair of RBI singles before adding two more runs in the fifth frame. The Seahawks trimmed the deficit to 6-5 with two runs in the bottom of the fifth on back-to-back RBI doubles by Santiago and Travers before Alabama State added an insurance run in the seventh.
How It Happened vs. Auburn: Auburn scored at least two runs in each of its four trips to the plate, including an eight-run fourth inning. The Seahawks ended the shutout bid in the fourth inning when Langkamp scored on a passed ball.

- Langkamp has hit safely in three straight games, recording five hits during the streak.
- Sophomore Janel Gamache had her five-game streak of reaching base safely snapped in the loss to Alabama State when she flied out to right center field as a pinch hitter in the seventh inning.
