Men's Basketball Joe Browning

Seahawks Ink Two Players For 2021-22

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – New UNCW men's basketball head coach Takayo Siddle has announced the signing of Cincinnati guard Will McCracken and Texas forward Trazarien "Tra" White during the early signing period for the 2021-22 season.

"We're very excited about the signing of Will and Trazarien for next season," said Siddle, whose club opens the new campaign on Nov. 25, 2020, against Western Carolina in Asheville, N.C. "They both bring special skill sets that will fill the needs of our program for years to come."

mccracken_willThe 6-4, 175-pound McCracken has played the last three seasons at Archbishop Moeller High School in Cincinnati, propelling the Crusaders to an 82-4 record and a pair of state championships. He plans to wrap up his prep career at Hilton Head (S.C.) High School this year.

McCracken was named First-Team All-Conference as a junior and was named the league's Defensive Player-of-the-Year. He started all 26 games at Archbishop Moeller, averaging 8.6 points and 4.3 rebounds. He shot 37 percent from three-point range one year ago.

"We're extremely excited to have Will join our Seahawk family," said Siddle. "Will is a great fit for our system with his size, skill and athleticism. He will provide a great deal of toughness because he plays with an edge. Will comes from one of the most successful high school programs in the country at Archbishop Moeller, so he will bring a winning mentality to our locker room. He will be a huge asset not only on the basketball court, but also in the Wilmington community."

McCracken's father, Troy, was a standout for the Dayton Flyers from 1986-90.

white_trazerianWhite, a 6-6, 180-pound forward from Mansfield, Texas, will join the Seahawks after transferring from Collin Community College in McKinney, Texas.

White won state titles in the Texas 5A classification as a sophomore and senior at Timberview High School in Arlington, Texas. He averaged 18.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.0 steals in his senior campaign. White racked up All-District, All-State and All-State Tournament accolades with the Wolves.

Siddle said, "We're very excited to have Trazarien join our program. He comes from winning programs at Timberview High School and Texas Impact 4:13. Tra is extremely versatile and can play several different positions. He plays extremely hard with a high motor and will be a perfect fit in our up-tempo system. His year at Collin Community College under Coach Jim Sigona will give him an opportunity to grow and play against great competition."
