WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Redshirt junior guard Kionna Jeter scored a game-high 21 points and senior forward Nukiya Mayo added a double-double to lead Towson to its fourth straight win, a 62-41 Colonial Athletic Association women's basketball victory over UNCW at Trask Coliseum on Sunday afternoon.
 
After losing their first two league contests, the Tigers have rattled off three straight CAA victories to improve to 3-2 in the circuit with an 8-8 overall record. The Seahawks, meanwhile, have dropped three in a row and stand 5-12 overall and 2-4 in league play.
 
Jeter led all scorers with her 21-point effort after making 8-of-19 field goal attempts, including a 5-for-13 showing from three-point range. She also grabbed eight rebounds while dishing out two assists.
 
Mayo contributed her sixth double-double of the season after netting 17 points with a game-high 11 rebounds. The Bronx, N.Y., native shot 6-for-15 from the field and converted seven of eight free throws.
 
Junior forward 
Carol-Anne Obusek paced the Seahawks in the loss with 15 points and seven rebounds. The Cary, N.C., product posted a 7-for-9 showing from the field in 22 minutes off the bench.
 
Key Moment: Towson, which never trailed in the game, erupted for a 17-0 lead over the Seahawks in the game's opening six minutes. Jeter and Mayo combined to score 13 of the Tigers' points during the run as Towson connected on 7 of its first 14 shots from the field.
 
Game Notes: 
	- Towson has won back-to-back meetings against the Seahawks after UNCW won 11 of the previous pairings … The Seahawks still hold a 24-12 advantage in the all-time series.
 
	- UNCW had its six-game home win streak in the series snapped as the Tigers earned their first victory in Wilmington since Mar. 6, 2013.
 
	- The Seahawks forced Towson into making 21 turnovers, marking the third time this year a UNCW opponent has registered 20 or more miscues … UNCW converted those 21 turnovers into 14 points.
 
	- Junior forward Paige Powell reached double digits in scoring for the fourth time this season after chipping in 10 points in the fourth quarter. 
 
	- Senior guard Lacey Suggs matched a season high with five steals in the loss against Towson on Sunday … The White Lake, N.C., product now has 108 steals in 81 career games.
 
	- Suggs saw an end to her streak of eight consecutive double-digit scoring efforts after being limited to two points on 1-for-11 shooting from the field.
 
	- Redshirt senior guard GiGi Smith was held to just four points on Sunday, marking the second time she has not reached double figures.
 
	- Mayo authored the 17th double-double of her college career … In addition, she has recorded a double-double in three consecutive games.
 
	- Jeter has scored in double figures in 18 consecutive games and posted her sixth 20-point effort of the season.
