Seahawks Blank South Carolina, 2-0

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW used a pair of second half goals to close out its exhibition schedule with a 2-0 victory over South Carolina in the final preseason tune-up for both teams at UNCW Soccer Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
 
The win allowed the Seahawks to close out their exhibition schedule with a 3-0-0 record while South Carolina ends the preseason with a 1-1-1 mark.
 
After a scoreless first half, the Seahawks broke through in the 67th minute when redshirt senior Danny Reynolds struck a free kick that hit the right goal post and went into the goal.
 
Redshirt junior Mason Schuster followed with five minutes remaining as he tapped in a crossing pass by Jamil Gracia in front of the goal.
 
The Seahawks outshot South Carolina by a 12-1 margin and had a 6-5 advantage in corner kicks.
 
Up Next: The Seahawks open the regular season on Friday, Aug. 30, when they face Georgia Southern in the opening game of the Aaron Olitsky Memorial Soccer Classic hosted by the College of Charleston.
