ROCK HILL, South Carolina – Freshman Jalen Anderson and junior Jacob Evans each scored a goal in the second half as UNCW opened its preseason schedule with a 2-0 victory over Winthrop at Eagle Field on Saturday evening.
 
Anderson gave the Seahawks a 1-0 lead in the 47th minute when he converted a pass from redshirt senior Danny Reynolds before Evans added an unassisted tally later in the second half to secure the win.
 
The Seahawks outshot Winthrop by a 20-3 margin and did not allow a shot on goal.
 
UNCW continues its preseason slate by welcoming Duke to UNCW Soccer Stadium for an exhibition contest on Tuesday, Aug. 20, at 6 p.m.
