WILMINGTON, N.C. – Bodie Sheehan rolled through the UNCW lineup for seven innings, allowing one run, as William & Mary clinched a Colonial Athletic Association series at Brooks Field with an 8-1 win on Saturday.
The Tribe, winner of its last three, improved to 8-1 on the road this season with the win and 18-7 overall and 3-2 in the conference. UNCW, meanwhile, dropped its third straight to fall to 15-13 and 3-2.
Sheehan (3-0) stayed perfect on the season with the win. The lefthander held the Seahawks six hits, all singles, and struck out seven.
Offensively, Zach Pearson had three hits and drove in four runs as the Tribe raced out to a 5-0 lead after two innings. Matt Thomas and Owen Socher scored three times apiece. Thomas singled and walked twice while Socher added three hits and a walk.

Up next: The series concludes on Sunday with game time moved to 11 a.m. due to anticipated bad weather.
How it happened: The Tribe jumped on Lawson for five runs on seven hits in the first two innings. Pearson's RBI double highlighted the first inning outburst and W&M strung together a one-out walk and three hits to plate two in the second.
Inside the box score: Through two games, UNCW has landed its leadoff hitter on base safely twice … UNCW had just two base runners in scoring position on the day.
