WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Freshman
Jada Santiago went 4-for-6 with a run scored and a run batted in to lead UNCW to a split of its two games at the Lafayette Ford Lincoln of Fayetteville Seahawk Softball Invitational at Boseman Field on Friday afternoon.
The Seahawks, who saw their record move to 14-11 on the season, dropped a 2-0 decision in their tournament opener against Eastern Kentucky before posting a 7-2 victory over Canisius.
Santiago accounted for four of the Seahawks' 11 hits in the twinbill, including a 3-for-3 performance in the win over Canisius. Senior

Dominique Travers added two-hit efforts for the Seahawks with an RBI each.
Junior
Rylee Pate earned the win in the circle against Canisius, allowing two runs on six hits while recording her sixth complete game of the season. Pate also registered six strikeouts without allowing a walk while upping her record to 7-4.
How It Happened vs. Eastern Kentucky: The Colonels scored a run in the fourth and fifth innings to take a 2-0 lead they did not relinquish. Samantha Reynoso and Bethany Todd combined to hurl a two-hit shutout as Eastern Kentucky evened its record to 9-9.
How It Happened vs. Canisius: UNCW overcame a 2-1 deficit by scoring two runs in three consecutive innings for a 7-2 advantage. The Seahawks took the lead in the fourth inning as Adamczyk drove in the tying run with a double to right field before scoring on a wild pitch. UNCW added two more runs in the fifth and sixth frames to complete the scoring.
Up Next: UNCW continues play at the Lafayette Ford Lincoln of Fayetteville Seahawk Softball Invitational on Saturday with a pair of games against Eastern Kentucky and Youngstown State starting at 10 a.m. The Seahawks will also hold their annual Military Appreciation Day and Girl Scouts Day.
