TALLAHASSEE, Florida - Junior Rylee Pate threw a two-hit shutout and junior Dominique Travers blasted a two-run home run as the Seahawks opened their 2019 season with a 5-0 victory over UNCG in the opening game of the Joanne Graf Classic hosted by Florida State on Friday morning. 

The Seahawks surged to a 3-0 lead over the Spartans in the first inning. Senior Lacey Fox drove in a pair of runs with a double to right center before freshman Logan Bjorson added an RBI single to left center. 

Travers, who paced the Seahawks with seven homers last season, launched her first round-tripper of the year in the sixth inning with a two-run shot to center field. 

Pate, meanwhile, allowed just two hits while striking out four en route to the second shutout of her college career. 

The Seahawks continue play at the Joanne Graf Classic on Friday afternoon when they face defending national champion and No. 1-ranked Florida State at 3 p.m.
