CHARLESTON, South Carolina – UNCW used seven extra-base hits, including five home runs, to earn a split of its two games at the Holy City Showdown hosted by Charleston Southern on Saturday afternoon.
The Seahawks, who ran their record to 6-6 on the season, defeated UMass Lowell by a 9-2 count to begin the day before falling against Marshall, 11-5.

Janel Gamache led a group of six UNCW players who collected two hits apiece in the twinbill, driving in three runs with a home run and two runs scored. Senior
Hannah Adamczyk also blasted a home run with three RBIs while junior
Dominique Travers, sophomore
Carson Shaner and freshman
Casey Jones also added home runs.
Junior
Rylee Pate earned the win in the circle against UMass Lowell, upping her record to 4-1 on the season. The right-handed hurler allowed two runs on five hits while striking out three en route to her fifth complete game of the season.
How It Happened vs. UMass Lowell: UNCW overcame a 2-0 deficit by scoring nine unanswered runs over a four-inning span, including six runs in the sixth inning. Adamczyk hit a three-run home run in the sixth inning while Gamache drove in two runs with a sacrifice fly in the fourth and a single in the sixth frame.
How It Happened vs. Marshall: Marshall broke a 1-1 tie by scoring six straight runs, including a five-run second inning, for a 7-1 advantage. The Seahawks trimmed the deficit to 8-5 before the Thundering Herd added three insurance runs in the top of the seventh inning.
