TALLAHASSEE, Florida – Junior
Rylee Pate allowed one run over 3.1 innings of relief, but it was not enough as UNCW completed play at the JoAnne Graf Classic with a 10-0 loss against No. 1 Florida State at the Seminole Softball Complex on Sunday afternoon.
The loss dropped the Seahawks' record to 2-3 while the Seminoles completed the season-opening tournament with a 5-0 mark.
Senior Carsyn Gordon led the Seminoles with three hits and three runs batted in while scoring twice. Sophomore Sydney Sherrill added two RBI along with a hit and a walk.
How It Happened: The Seminoles exploded for nine runs on eight hits in the first inning to build a 9-0 advantage they did not relinquish. Florida State completed the scoring with a run-scoring groundout in the fourth inning.
