WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW seniors Madison Peters and Kendall Bender combined for 21 kills as UNCW cruised past visiting Delaware in three sets (25-22, 25-19, 25-17) in Colonial Athletic Association volleyball action Friday at Hanover Hall.

The wins snapped a four-match losing skid for the Seahawks, who ran their record to 12-10 overall and 2-7 in the CAA. The Blue Hens, meanwhile, saw their losing streak pushed to five as they dropped to 11-9 and 3-6.

In the third set, UD ran out to an early lead, scoring six of the first seven points of the season. The Seahawks, however, were able to battle back and took their first lead of the set ay 13-12 following a UD hitting error. UNCW built leads as many as six points, including 22-16 after forcing another Blue Hen hitting error.

Peters had a team-high 11 kills while Bender added 10 and hit .529 for the night. Peters collected nine of her kills in the first and third sets while Bender had six in the third and deciding set.

Bender held match-high honors with four blocks and junior Anna Weissmann led three in double-figure digs with 17. Junior Jaime Thomas and freshman Ashley Thompson chipped in 12 apiece.

UD's Maria Bellinger led all hitters with 12 kills.

Andie Hanus of Delaware recorded 32 digs, tying for second most in a three-set match this season in the NCAA.

The Seahawks held the Blue Hens to a .083 hitting average.

The Seahawks host James Madison on Sunday at 1 p.m. in Hanover Hall.
