Seahawks Begin Alcohol Sales At Games

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Following an extensive planning and approval process, UNCW Athletics is ready to begin alcohol sales at Trask Coliseum this basketball season.

Starting with Saturday's women's basketball exhibition vs. Lenoir-Rhyne, fans will be able to purchase beer or wine at two locations in Trask Coliseum. An enclosed area on the east end of the coliseum, previously occupied by the Courtside Bagel Shop, will sell beer and wine downstairs, while the Golden Hawk Room will be used for sales on the upper concourse.

Fans must first proceed to a wristband station to obtain a band to purchase an alcoholic beverage. It must be displayed at all times. All patrons must be 21 years old and produce a valid photo ID to purchase alcohol. Accepted IDs include a valid driver's license, valid North Carolina ID issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles, a valid military ID or valid Passport.

Sales will begin when gates open to the general public and conclude at the 16-minute mark of the second half for men's games and the beginning of the third period for women's contests. No alcoholic beverages will be allowed to leave the arena.

Fans can only purchase one alcoholic beverage at a time. Various brands of beer and wines will be available for sale. The price will be $8 for one 16 ounce beer or 6 ounce wine.

Law enforcement officers and game day staff will be trained and focused to recognize underage drinking and mitigate other alcohol-related incidents.

Fans who witness inappropriate fan behavior, medical issues or custodial issues are encouraged to notify the nearest Event Staff member who will contact the appropriate game day personnel to remedy the problem.
