DURHAM, North Carolina – Hofstra overcame a one-goal deficit against UNCW by scoring twice in a three-minute span as the Pride edged the Seahawks, 2-1, in Colonial Athletic Association women's soccer action at Duke's Koskinen Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The loss dropped the Seahawks' record to 7-3-0 overall and 1-2-0 in the CAA. Hofstra, meanwhile, earned its fifth win in the last six games to improve to 9-4-0 overall and 3-1-0 in league play.
After a scoreless first half, UNCW took a 1-0 lead in the 64th minute when sophomore
Molly McGarry converted a penalty kick for her second goal of the season after Hofstra was called for a handball foul in the penalty area.
But, Hofstra answered less than eight minutes later when freshman Miri Taylor scored her second goal of the year off an assist by sophomore Lucy Shepherd.
The Pride took the one-goal lead just over three minutes later as Sabrina Bryan netted her fourth goal of the season on a one-timer past sophomore goalkeeper
Sydney Schneider.

Caitie Broderick made four saves in the first half for the Seahawks before Schneider posted a pair of stops in the final period.
Redshirt seniors Jenna Borreson and Ashley Wilson combined to tally six saves in the win for Hofstra, which was outshot by a 13-10 margin.
