Seahawks Fall in Overtime at Northeastern

BROOKLINE, Massachusetts – Sophomore forward Katarina Nilsson scored the game's only goal with 2:36 remaining in the first overtime period as Northeastern edged UNCW, 1-0, in Colonial Athletic Association women's soccer action at Parsons Field on Sunday afternoon.

The Seahawks, who were playing their first game in 17 days due to the effects of Hurricane Florence, dropped to 6-2-0 overall and 0-1-0 in the CAA. Northeastern, meanwhile, improved to 5-6-1 overall with a 2-0-0 mark in league play.

Nilsson, who scored her second goal of the season, gave Northeastern the one-goal victory when she converted a pass from senior midfielder Valentina Soares Gache by slipping a shot off the left goalpost past sophomore goalkeeper Sydney Schneider.

Schneider tallied four saves in the loss for the Seahawks after entering the game in the second half for senior Caitie Broderick, who registered one save.

Senior Nathalie Niedetch made one save for Northeastern, which outshot UNCW by a 16-7 margin.

Up Next: The Seahawks continue CAA action on Thursday, Sept. 27, with a 7 p.m. fixture at William & Mary.
