WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW used a three-goal outburst in the second half to soar past Kent State for a 4-1 victory in the second game of the Courtyard by Marriott UNCW Soccer Invitational at UNCW Soccer Stadium on Friday evening.

The Seahawks, who won their second straight game, upped their record to 4-1-0 while the Golden Flashes, who had their three-match unbeaten streak come to an end, moved to 2-2-1 on the season.

After battling to a 1-1 tie in the first half, the Seahawks scored three times after the intermission to pull away. Sophomore
Audrey Harding gave UNCW a 2-1 advantage in the 54th minute when she converted a crossing pass from junior
Dominique Martinez for her second goal of the season.

With 1:20 remaining, junior
Baley Edwards extended the margin to 3-1 with her second goal of the year after taking a turnover from Kent State and scoring on a breakaway past redshirt freshman goalkeeper Faith O'Neill.

Sophomore Tara Park completed the scoring with just 29 seconds left off an assist from sophomore
Grace Bondurant, netting her second goal of the season.

The Seahawks took an early 1-0 lead in the fifth minute when junior
Ashley Johnson knocked in a corner kick by sophomore
Molly McGarry, but the Golden Flashes answered with 13:51 left in the opening stanza when sophomore Maddie Holmes scored off a corner kick from sophomore Vital Kats.

Caitie Broderick made one save in the win for the Seahawks, who were outshot by a 7-6 margin. O'Neill, the reigning MAC Defensive Player-of-the-Week, recorded one save in the loss for Kent State.
