Kirsten Bootes each scored a goal as UNCW opened its home schedule with a 2-0 victory over High Point in non-conference women's soccer action at UNCW Soccer Stadium on Sunday evening.
The win allowed the Seahawks to improve to 2-0-0 for the second time in the last three years while High Point dropped to 1-1-0.
Bondurant tallied the first goal of her college career in the 23rd minute when she took a pass from sophomore
Molly McGarry and flicked the ball past redshirt junior goalkeeper Charlotte Kennedy.
Bootes upped the advantage to 2-0 just over seven minutes later when she knocked in a blocked shot from sophomore
Morgan Nanni for her second goal in as many contests.
Senior
Caitie Broderick and sophomore
Sydney Schneider split time in goal for the Seahawks. Broderick tallied one save in the first half while Schneider did not record a save in the final 45 minutes.
Kennedy tallied four saves in the first half for the Panthers while senior Emily Lyon notched three saves in the second half.
UNCW outshot High Point by a 17-2 margin, including an 11-2 count in the first half, and had a 5-0 advantage in corner kicks.
Up Next: UNCW hits the road next weekend for a pair of non-conference contests. The Seahawks will face Virginia Tech on Friday, Aug. 24, before visiting in-state foe UNCG on Sunday, Aug. 26.
