WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Freshman
Anna Knox celebrated her birthday in style as her home run and two runs batted in helped UNCW secure a split of a Colonial Athletic Association softball doubleheader against Delaware at Boseman Field on Saturday afternoon.

The Seahawks, who moved to 16-26 overall and 6-11 in the CAA, overcame a 5-1 setback in the opener to blank the Blue Hens by a 3-0 count in the nightcap. Delaware stands at 12-31 overall with a 4-13 record in league play.

Knox drove in two of the Seahawks' three runs in the shutout victory, hitting a solo home run in the bottom of the second inning before adding a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning.

Senior
Sarah Davis, who upped her record to 4-7 in the circle, earned the shutout win after scattering four hits with five strikeouts while not walking a batter.

Dominique Travers led UNCW with three hits and a walk in the doubleheader while sophomore

Kelsey Bryan and junior
Kali Jones added two-hit efforts.

Senior Mariah Kondravy paced Delaware with three hits, including her sixth home run of the season, while senior Leanna Gearhart notched two hits with a pair of stolen bases.

Hannah Adamczyk, who scored on a wild pitch and throwing error. Knox added an insurance run in the sixth inning on her sacrifice fly.

Inside the Box Scores: UNCW had its leadoff hitter reach base in 7-of-13 visits to the plate … The Seahawks and the Blue Hens were a combined 4-for-23 with runners in scoring position and left 23 runners on base in the two games … Delaware was 5-for-6 in stolen base attempts.
