TOWSON, Maryland – Sophomore
Dominique Travers hit a pair of home runs and junior
Lacey Fox added a pair of hits, but it was not enough as UNCW dropped a pair of Colonial Athletic Association contests at Towson on Saturday afternoon.
Â
Towson, which won the opener by a 4-3 margin before claiming a 13-3 victory in the nightcap, upped its record to 35-11 overall and 10-4 in the CAA while extending its win streak to six consecutive games. UNCW, meanwhile, had its brief three-game win streak snapped and moved to 15-24 overall with a 5-9 mark against league foes.
Â
Fox recorded a hit in each game while driving in a run in each contest. Travers blasted both of her home runs in the second game with a pair of solo shots.
Â
Senior Kendyl Scott paced the Tigers by going 6-for-8 in the doubleheader with a double and triple while driving in four runs. Senior Brook Miko went 4-for-6 at the plate with three extra-base hits and five runs batted in.
Â
How It Happened – Game 1: Scott broke a 3-all tie and gave the Tigers a walk-off victory when she singled to center field with no outs in the bottom of the seventh inning, scoring junior Kendall Arcia from second base.
Â
How It Happened – Game 2: Towson used a nine-hit barrage from its first four hitters to erupt for 13 runs on 13 hits en route to the five-inning victory. Scott went 3-for-4 with three runs batted in while Miko drove in four runs along with a 3-for-3 effort at the plate.  Â
