Seahawks Rally to Sweep Drexel

PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania – Led by home runs from junior Lacey Fox and freshman Anna Knox, UNCW overcame a six-run deficit to complete a sweep of its Colonial Athletic Association softball series at Drexel by defeating the Dragons, 8-7, at the Vidas Athletic Complex on Sunday morning.

The win elevated the Seahawks' record to 15-22 overall and 5-7 in the CAA. Drexel, meanwhile, fell to 13-19-2 on the season with a 3-9 mark against league foes.

UNCW, which played its fifth consecutive one-run game, rallied from a 7-1 deficit by scoring seven runs on five hits and three Drexel errors to secure the victory. Fox hit a solo home run with one out in the inning to trim the deficit to 7-2 before Knox's three-run blast with two outs gave the Seahawks the one-run advantage at 8-7.

Knox went 1-for-3 in the victory with her second home run of the season while Fox tallied her team-leading third homer of the year in a 1-for-4 effort. The duo spearheaded the Seahawks' seven-hit attack in the victory.

Sophomore Rylee Pate earned the victory in the circle after not allowing a hit or an earned run over the final 3.1 innings with three strikeouts.
