PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania – UNCW used a balanced offensive attack to secure a sweep of its Colonial Athletic Association softball doubleheader against Drexel at the Vidas Athletic Complex on Saturday afternoon.
The Seahawks, who upped their record to 14-22 overall and 4-7 in the CAA, won the first game with a 6-5 comeback victory before earning a 7-6 triumph in the nightcap. Drexel dropped to 13-18-2 overall with a 3-8 mark in league play.
Seven different players recorded a pair of hits in the twinbill for the Seahawks, including junior
Lacey Fox, who had a pair of doubles. Sophomore
Booth Braswell also added a double for UNCW, which banged out 17 hits in the two wins.
Junior
Sarah Davis earned the win in the circle in the opener, improving her record to 3-7 after throwing 5.0 innings with six strikeouts. Junior
Haley Lenderman did not allow a hit in the final two innings to claim her first save of the season.
Sophomore
Rylee Pate moved to 4-8 on the season with the victory in the second game, giving up one run on two hits over 5.0 innings while striking out five batters.

Kaly Winslow, who entered the game as a pinch hitter, hit a three-run home run with one out in the top of the sixth inning to give the Seahawks a 6-5 lead they did not relinquish. It was the first home run of Winslow's career.
How It Happened – Game 2: UNCW surged out to a 7-1 lead by scoring at least one run in four of the first six innings. The Seahawks scored three runs in the second inning, including a two-run double by freshman
Anna Knox, before adding two more runs in the third inning. UNCW also posted a run in the fifth and sixth frames before Drexel closed to within 7-6 with five runs over the last two innings.
Up Next: The final game of the weekend series takes place on Sunday morning with first pitch slated for 10 a.m., which is one hour earlier than originally scheduled due to the threat of inclement weather.
