AUBURN, Alabama – Senior
Kelsey Bryan extended her hitting streak to seven straight games, but UNCW was unable to overcome a pair of big innings by No. 12 Auburn in a 6-1 loss to the Tigers in the final game of the Auburn Wilson/DeMarini Classic at Jane B. Moore Field on Sunday.
The loss dropped the Seahawks' record to 5-10 while Auburn improved to 23-2.
One of four UNCW players to record a hit against Auburn, Bryan went 1-for-3 in the tournament finale and finished the weekend with a .375 average after collecting six hits.
Junior
Lacey Fox added a double for the Seahawks while sophomore
Kaly Winslow and freshman
Emily Langkamp also registered a hit.
Senior
Sarah Davis dropped to 2-5 on the season in the circle after allowing three runs on two hits over two innings.
Redshirt senior Victoria Draper led the six-hit attack for Auburn by going 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored.
Key Moment: Auburn scored three runs in the first and fifth innings to build a 6-0 lead the Tigers did not relinquish. The Seahawks scored their lone run in the top of the seventh inning on a RBI single by sophomore
Kaly Winslow.
