Moss Makes Run At Blocks Record In UNCW Loss

Senior middle Anna Moss came up just short in her attempt to break the program single-match blocks record

record but came up short as the Seahawks were swept (25-21, 25-23, 25-19) by Northeastern on Monday in Colonial Athletic Association volleyball action at the Cabot Center.

The Huskies improved to 16-12 overall and 9-6 in the CAA while earning a split of the series with UNCW, each winning on its home court. The Seahawks, who saw their road losing skid pushed to six, dipped to 13-11 and 6-8. UNCW must win one of its last two matches to clinch the final berth in next week's conference tournament.

The Seahawks remain two wins ahead of Elon (4-10), who they will host on Thursday at 7 p.m. in Hanover Hall. The Phoenix upended the Seahawks earlier this season in Elon.

Moss collected eight blocks in the first two sets but managed just one block in the third set to finish with nine. The school record is 11 and is held by five players, including Moss who has reached that mark on two occasions.

The Huskies limited the Seahawks to a .077 hitting average as Maddy Kline led UNCW with 10 kills.

Natalie Shollin held match-high honors with 14 kills and posted a .393 hitting average in 28 attempts. Athena Ardila and Hannah Boyd finished with 13 and 12, respectively.
