Volleyhawks swept At Hofstra

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – Four players had at least 10 kills as Hofstra rolled past visiting UNCW, 3-0 (25-17, 25-21, 25-20), on Saturday in Colonial Athletic Association volleyball action at the David S. Mack Physical Education Center.

The Pride won its fifth consecutive match to run its record to 21-7 overall and 11-3 in the CAA. UNCW, which dropped its fifth straight road match, dipped to 13-10 and 6-7 in the league. The Seahawks remained two wins ahead of Elon for the final tournament berth after the Phoenix lost last night at Towson.

Laura Masciullo and Aisha Skinner finished with 14 and 13 kills, respectively for the Pride while Doris Bogoje and Ana Martinovic added 10 apiece.

Madison Peters led UNCW with eight kills while the Seahawks committed just eight hitting errors on the match.

Hofstra finished with a .293 hitting average and had 19 more kills.

Freshman Claire Sawyer led UNCW with 16 assists.

The Seahawks next visit Northeastern for an 8 p.m. start on Nov. 5.
