WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Sophomore forward
Paige Powell posted her second double-double of the season to lead three UNCW players in double figures as the Seahawks claimed a 63-48 victory over Presbyterian in non-conference women's basketball action at Trask Coliseum on Wednesday afternoon.
The Seahawks, who never trailed in the contest, improved to 2-1 on the young season while handing the Blue Hose their second loss in a row.
Powell scored a career-high 12 points and grabbed 12 rebounds while blocking a career-high three shots. The Hallsboro, N.C., product made 4-of-8 shots from the floor and was 4-for-6 from the charity stripe.
Redshirt senior guard
Shrita Parker added 12 points with five assists and three steals while redshirt junior guard
GiGi Smith chipped in 10 markers.
Redshirt junior center Ericka Blackwell-Boyden paced the Blue Hose with a game-high 12 rebounds while freshman Bria Gibbs came off the bench to contribute eight points.
