Volleyhawks Beat CAA Leader JMU


WILMINGTON, N.C. – Behind a combined 32 kills from Maddy Kline and Madison Peters, UNCW dealt Colonial Athletic Association leader James Madison a four-set loss (25-21, 18-25, 25-16, 25-21) on Saturday at Hanover Hall.

The Seahawks (13-8, 6-5 CAA) moved into fourth-place in the conference standings with their second win in as many nights. The Dukes, who maintained their conference lead, suffered their second loss in conference action to dip to 10-2 and 18-5 overall.

Kline finished with 18 kills and closed out a double-double with 13 digs. Peters added 14 and hit .407 on the night.

UNCW's Brynn Montgomery doled out 38 assists and notched her own double-double with 18 digs.

Defensively, the Seahawk senior Katie McCullough paced the squad with 19 digs.

JMU's M'Kaela White finished with 14 kills and Kelly Vahos had 11.

Sarah Driscoll of JMU held match-high honors with 24 digs and Sarah Martin recorded a double-double of 38 assists and 12 digs.

The Dukes were outhit, .242-.142, on the match.

The Seahawks close out their homestand on Monday when they host Towson at 7 p.m. in Hanover Hall.
