Charleston Knocks Down Volleyhawks, 3-1

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston's Devon Rachel and Kennedy Madison combined for 45 kills as the Cougars dealt UNCW a 3-1 (25-15, 25-14, 21-25, 25-18) Colonial Athletic association loss on Sunday at TD Arena.

The Cougars ran their record to 15-8 overall and 6-3 in the conference while UNCW, which has dropped its last four road matches, dropped to 11-8 and 4-5.

Rachel held match-high honors with 30 kills while Madison chipped in 15. Lauren Freed added 10 kills and rounded out a double-double with 19 digs.

The Seahawks were out-hit .338-.096 for the match.

Senior Anna Moss paced the Seahawks with 10 kills and five blocks.

UNCW sits in sixth place in the conference standings, leading Elon (3-6) by a game for the final postseason tournament berth.

The Seahawks open a quick three-match homestand on Oct. 26 with a 7 p.m. start against Delaware in Hanover Hall.
