Volleyhawks Power Past Tribe In Sweep


WILMINGTON, N.C. – Senior Maddy Kline's match-high 15 kills powered UNCW to a sweep (25-20, 25-13, 25-22) of visiting William & Mary as the Seahawks got back into the win column on Friday at Hanover Hall.

The Seahawks halted a modest two-match skid with the win and improved to 11-6 overall and 4-3 in the Colonial Athletic Association. The Tribe dropped it fourth straight outing to fall to 5-12 and 1-7 in the league.

Kline finished the match with a .310 hitting average, six digs and three blocks.

Sophomore setter Brynn Montgomery collected 30 assists and a career-high five service aces. She also became the 15th Seahawk to collect a 1,000 assists in her career.

Up front, senior Anna Moss held match-high honors with six blocks and surpassed the 300-block assist plateau for her career. Junior Kendall Bender and Montgomery added four assists apiece as the Seahawks posted 11 1/2 blocks on the evening.

Julia Brown had 10 assists for the Tribe while Claire Farrell chipped in eight kills. Setter Katie Kemp doled out 25 assists and Lauren Moussaid collected a match-high 20 digs.

The Seahawks visit Elon and Charleston, this weekend, on Friday and Sunday, respectively.
