Volleyhawks Swept By JMU

HARRISONBURG, Va. – In a matchup of the top blocking teams in the Colonial Athletic Association on Sunday, conference-leader James Madison swept UNCW (25-19, 25-20, 25-13) at Sinclair Gymnasium.

The Dukes (16-3, 8-0 CAA) stayed perfect in the league and ran their winning streak to eight matches. UNCW, meanwhile, dropped its second straight match and dipped to 10-6 overall and 3-3 in the CAA.

Led by M'kaela White and Taylor Gail's four blocks apiece, the Dukes owned the net outblocking the Seahawks, 8-5.

Kendall Bender had four blocks for the Seahawks while Halle Hunt added a team-high eight kills and 11 digs.

Briley Brind'Amour and Bryn Recker of JMU held match-high honors with nine kills each.

The Seahawks host William & Mary on Oct. 16 at 5:30 p.m. The match will be played in Hanover Hall.
