Seahawks Swept By Northwestern, 3-0

DURHAM, North Carolina – All-Tournament honoree Halle Hunt led UNCW with 10 kills in a 3-0 (25-17, 25-10, 25-17) loss to Northwestern on Saturday at the Duke Invitational.
The Seahawks saw their record fall to 3-3 while the Wildcats ran their mark to 5-1 after sweeping their weekend play.

"Being that this was the first time our team played a Big 10 school, I felt our players did a fantastic job extending rallies and keeping our composure," said UNCW Head Coach Amy Bambenek. "Competing against this caliber of team makes us better regardless of the win or loss. Halle Hunt was attacking high and fast and Katie McCullough is doing a great job in a new role as our libero. We have a quick turnaround with a match at Campbell, so it back to work to prep for a good in-state rival."

The Seahawks were limited to a .091 hitting average by NU, who out-dug the Seahawks and finished with a 9.5-6 advantage in blocks.

Brynn Montgomery paced UNCW with 14 assists while Michaela White had a team-high seven digs.

Northwestern landed three players in double-figure kills, led by Nia Robinson's 12. Gabrielle Hazen (10-0-12) and Alana Walker (11-1-17) hit .833 and .588, respectively.

The Seahawks closeout their four-match road stretch at Campbell on Sept. 5. First-serve is slated for 7 p.m.
