BUIES CREEK, North Carolina – Campbell rolled to a 3-0 (25-18, 25-23, 25-19) sweep of UNCW behind Allena Heath's match-high 14 kills on Tuesday at Gore Arena.
The Camels improved to 6-1 with the win, their best mark to open a season, while the Seahawks dropped their second straight to dip to 3-4. The win snapped UNCW's modest three-match winning streak in the series.
"This is a disappointing loss, but I have to give Campbell credit for their execution and relentless pursuit," said UNCW Head Coach
Amy Bambenek. "Campbell served us tough and never allowed us to get into an offensive rhythm."
Maddy Kline finished with a UNCW-best eight kills while
Madison Peters and
Sydney Brock added six apiece.
Campbell outhit the Seahawks, .210-.058, while also owning a 67-53 advantage in digs.
Summer Schuitema collected a match-high 20 digs for the Camels.
UNCW did outblock CU, 10-6, as Brock tied her season-high with five and
Anna Moss added four.
UNCW closes out its road swing this weekend when they visit High Point. The Seahawks face NC State on Saturday and High Point on Sunday. Both matches are set for 1 p.m.
