UNCW Opens CAA Play With 1-0 Overtime Victory

NEWARK, Delaware – Junior midfielder David Lozano scored the game's only goal on a penalty kick in the 99th minute as No. 22 UNCW opened Colonial Athletic Association play with a 1-0 overtime victory over Delaware at Stuart and Suzanne Grant Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

With just over a minute left in the first overtime period, the Blue Hens were called for a foul inside the penalty area. Lozano drilled the ensuing penalty kick to the left side passed redshirt junior goalkeeper Todd Morton for the game-winning goal.

Led by redshirt junior goalkeeper Ryan Cretens, the Seahawks limited Delaware to just six shots. Cretens tallied his fourth shutout of the season, but did not record a save in the victory.
