Goodrum's Goals Help Seahawks Edge W&M, 2-1

WILLIAMSBURG, Virginia – Sophomore midfielder Phillip Goodrum scored two goals in the second half as No. 18 UNCW rallied to edge William & Mary, 2-1, in a Colonial Athletic Association men's soccer contest at Martin Family Stadium on Saturday evening.

The victory allowed the Seahawks to extend their win streak to three straight games while upping their record to 6-1-0 overall and 2-0-0 in the CAA. William & Mary, meanwhile, dropped to 4-3-2 on the season with a 0-1-1 mark in league play.

Goodrum, who recorded the first multi-goal game of his career, tied the game in the 75th minute when he converted a pass from sophomore defender Dylan Chain before giving UNCW a 2-1 advantage with 5:10 remaining on his fourth goal of the season.

The Tribe took a 1-0 lead in the 28th minute when freshman defender Sam Golan scored the first goal of his college career off an assist from junior defender Remi Frost.

Redshirt junior goalkeeper Ryan Cretens made two saves in the victory for UNCW, which outshot the Tribe by a 14-9 margin.

Redshirt senior Phil Breno tallied two saves for William & Mary, which saw an end to its two-game win streak.
