Seahawks Outlast Wofford for 65-60 Win

SPARTANBURG, South Carolina – The triumvirate of redshirt senior Jenny DeGraaf, junior Chinyere Bell and sophomore Lacey Suggs combined to score 45 points as UNCW earned its first road win of the season with a 65-60 victory over Wofford in a non-conference women's basketball game at Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium on Saturday night.

The Seahawks upped their record to 6-4 after winning for the second time in the last three outings. Wofford, meanwhile, has its record drop to 5-5.

DeGraaf fashioned her eighth double-digit scoring effort after making 5-of-10 shots from the floor along with all four of her free throws. She also grabbed a team-high eight rebounds while playing 39 minutes.

Suggs and Bell each came off the bench to contribute 15 points in the victory. Suggs, who reached double figures for the sixth consecutive contest, shot 5-for-11 from the floor and was perfect in five trips to the foul line. Bell, meanwhile, converted 7-of-11 field goal attempts while adding four rebounds.

Wofford, which lost for the second time in its last three games, was led by freshman guard Da'Ja Green, who posted her first career double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds.

Key Moment: Bell scored 11 of her 15 points in the fourth quarter as UNCW outscored Wofford, 18-13, in the final frame. She tallied six points over a two-minute span to give the Seahawks a 61-60 advantage they did not relinquish.

Up Next: UNCW closes out its non-conference schedule on Thursday, Dec. 21, by welcoming former Colonial Athletic Association rival Georgia State to Trask Coliseum for a 1 p.m. tip-off.
