NC State Edges Seahawks on Late Goal, 2-1

RALEIGH, North Carolina – Senior forward Ade Taiwo's goal with 4:07 remaining in regulation lifted NC State to a 2-1 victory over UNCW in a non-conference men's soccer contest at Dail Soccer Stadium on Tuesday evening.
 
The win allowed the Wolfpack to extend its unbeaten streak to five straight games while improving to 7-4-3 on the season. UNCW, meanwhile, drops to 9-5-0 after its third loss in a row.
 
Taiwo, who scored his second goal of the season, gave NC State a 2-1 advantage when he fired a low shot from a sharp angle past redshirt junior goalkeeper Ryan Cretens.
 
The Wolfpack took a 1-0 lead in the 18th minute when junior midfielder Clayton Sparks converted a pass from freshman forward Manny Perez for his second goal of the year.
 
UNCW rallied to tie the game at 1-1 with 9:50 remaining when senior midfielder Kalvin Kromer took passes from junior midfielder Ben Fisher and redshirt senior forward Julio Moncada and blasted a 25-yard shot into the top right corner for his second goal of the season.
 
Freshman goalkeeper Leon Krapf made three saves for NC State, which was outshot by an 8-6 margin. Cretens recorded one save in the loss for the Seahawks.  
 
Up Next: The Seahawks play their penultimate game of the regular season on Saturday, Oct. 21, with a visit to Hofstra at 7 p.m.
