CHAPEL HILL, North Carolina – Sophomore
Thao My Nguyen shot a one-over-par 73 to lead UNCW during the final round of the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational at UNC Finley Golf Course on Sunday afternoon.
The Seahawks, who carded a 299 team score during the final round, closed out the tournament in 17th place. Duke earned the team championship with an outstanding 31-under-par team score after holding a late surge from Alabama, which set a tournament record by shooting 18-under-par on Sunday.
Nguyen posted a pair of birdies during the first nine holes before finishing with a 73, giving her a share of 71st place with a 227 tournament score.
Senior
Kayla Thompson tied for 55th place after ending the tournament with a five-over-par 77 while freshman
Caroline Cahill finished in a tie for 75th place after firing a two-over-par 74 for the second straight round.
Junior
Ellinoora Moisio and freshman
Rachael Mast finished in 82nd and 91st places, respectively.
