Men's Soccer Preview: College of Charleston

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – The No. 15 UNCW men's soccer team can secure the first berth in the Colonial Athletic Association Championship field on Wednesday night as the Seahawks host regional rival College of Charleston at 7 p.m.

UNCW, which carries a 9-2-0 overall record and a 4-0-0 mark in league play, can clinch a postseason berth with a victory over the Cougars. College of Charleston, meanwhile, is 4-5-2 overall with a 1-1-2 record against CAA opponents.

  1. Junior midfielder David Lozano was named to the Top Drawer Soccer and College Soccer News National Team-of-the-Week after scoring three goals in UNCW's two wins last week.
  2. UNCW is off to its best start through 11 games since posting an identical 9-2-0 record in 1980.
  3. The Seahawks have scored two or more goals in 7-of-11 games this season.
  4. UNCW leads the all-time series against Charleston by a 7-6-2 margin, but will be trying to snap a three-game winless streak against the Cougars.
  5. The Seahawks begin the week as the CAA leader with 20 goals in 11 games.
