WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Junior
Peyton Jordan tossed her third shutout of the season while scattering just six hits as UNCW earned a split of a Colonial Athletic Association doubleheader against Elon at Boseman Field on Saturday afternoon.
The Seahawks, who improved to 26-19 overall and 5-8 in the CAA, overcame a 3-2 loss in the opener by blanking Elon, 2-0, in the nightcap. The Phoenix now hold a 25-20 overall record with an 8-6 mark in league play.
Jordan, who upped her record to 13-6 on the season, posted her fifth complete game of the season after striking out a season-high eight batters against just one walk.

Kelsey Bryan paced the Seahawks' 12-hit attack by going 4-for-4 in the first game while sophomore
Ashley Best collected three hits, including a 2-for-3 effort in the second game. Â Â Â

Kayla Caruso earned the win in the circle in the first game after allowing two runs on six hits in six innings of work.
How It Happened – Game 1: Elon broke a 2-all tie in the top of the sixth inning as
Alaina Hall's infield single to shortstop drove in the game-winning run. UNCW had taken a 2-0 lead in the opening frame before the Phoenix answered with two runs in the second inning. Â Â

Rachel Willis to produce the lone runs of the game in the bottom of the sixth inning. Â
