Charlotte Invitational Final Results

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina – UNCW placed 2-3 in the Women's Pole Vault and Will Bunch competed in his first Men's Decathlon as the UNCW men's and women's track and field teams wrapped up their appearances Saturday at the Charlotte Invitational.

Seniors Molly Love and Carolyn Edler finished 2-3 behind Appalachian State's Taylor Drummonds in the Women's Pole Vault competition. Love, who recorded a personal best, and Edler each cleared 11-11.75.

In other finishes on the women's side, sophomore Ari Whiteside came in third in the 200 Meters in 24.97, sophomore Alexis Dickerson wound up fourth in the Discus with a throw of 133-8 and the 4x400 Relay team came in fifth.

For the men, Bunch totaled 4,194 points for seventh place in the Decathlon and senior Trey Jones took fourth in the Long Jump with a leap of 23.2.
"We had a good day and several people had breakthroughs that we've been waiting for," said Interim Head Coach Layne Schwier. "The competition was really strong on both sides, but I think we competed well.

"With one more competition and then a weekend off for finals, we're looking forward to freshening up and starting to see the payoff from the hard training we've put in all season. It all comes down to how well our student-athletes manage their health and stress these next couple of weeks."

The Seahawks next compete against Elon in a meet on April 23 in Elon, N.C., before returning to the same venue for the CAA Championships on May 6-7.
