WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Freshmen infielders
Kali Jones and
Rachel Willis each posted three hits as UNCW earned a split of its games against Radford and Virginia to open the Seahawk Softball Showcase at Boseman Field on Saturday afternoon.
The Seahawks, who increased their record to 11-5 on the season, dropped a 4-3 decision against Radford in the weekend opener before rallying for a 2-1 victory over Virginia. Radford finished the tripleheader by edging Virginia, 6-3.
After collecting a hit in the loss against Radford, Jones went 2-for-2 against Virginia with a run scored and a walk. Willis had a pair of hits against the Highlanders in the opener before adding an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth inning during the comeback win over the Cavaliers.

Darian Roberts and freshman infielder
Hannah Adamczyk also helped the Seahawk offense by recording a pair of hits. Roberts, who was making her season debut, tallied both of her hits against Radford while Adamczyk had two hits with an RBI and a run scored in the loss against the Highlanders.
Sophomore
Sarah Davis upped her record to 4-1 in the circle after throwing a complete game in the victory over Virginia. She allowed just one run on five hits while recording five strikeouts. Â
How It Happened vs. Radford: Radford broke a 1-1 tie in the top of the fifth inning by scoring three times as the Highlanders sent nine hitters to the plate. UNCW trimmed the margin to 4-2 in the bottom of the fifth inning on an RBI single by freshman
Kelli Freeman before a fielder's choice by Adamczyk in the sixth inning made it a 4-3 game. Â
How It Happened vs. Virginia: UNCW took advantage of an error with one out in the sixth inning to overcome a 1-0 deficit with a pair of unearned runs. Willis drove in the eventual game-winning run with an infield single. Â
Inside the Box Score: The Seahawks hit 5-for-21 with runners in scoring position in the two games … Davis recorded 10 of her 21 outs against Virginia via a ground ball … UNCW was 7-for-14 hitting with two outs against Radford.
#SeahawkStats: Chamblee extended her streak of reaching base safely to 12 consecutive games … However, her seven-game hitting streak came to an end against the Cavaliers … Adamczyk also had a seven-game hitting streak snapped in the win over Virginia … Jones posted her team-leading seventh multi-hit game of the season.
