WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Sophomore sprinter Ramira Mayse raced to second in the Women's 200 Meters to highlight UNCW's finishes on the final day of the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational XX on Saturday at Myrtle Beach High School's Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium.

Mayse, from Elizabeth, N.J., clocked a 26.25 time in the 200 Meters, finishing just behind Purdue's Yamani Hunter, who crossed the finish line in 26.07, under overcast skies.

In other results, senior Meredith Bozzi came in fifth in the Women's 800 Meters with a time of 2:13.06, freshman Courtney Cefalo finished third in the Women's Long Jump with a leap of 17-06.75 and junior Chase Johanson wound up fourth in the Men's High Jump with a jump of 6-05.75.

"There was tough competition in all events," said Layne Schwier, UNCW's interim head coach. "Overall, it was the toughest competition we've faced all year. We had some good performances both days and we've got some things we need to improve on.

"We have some inconsistencies to fix. We can't expect big breakthroughs until we have more consistency with some of our student-athletes. Many are getting better week by week, so if we can keep them healthy and focused, more breakthroughs are coming."

The Seahawks completed their third appearance of the outdoor season and will next travel to Rock Hill, S.C., next weekend, March 25-26, for the Winthrop Invitational.
