Track Teams Sweep Seahawk Invitational

Seahawk Invitational Final Results

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – The UNCW men won two events and the women captured first place in four more on Saturday to help the Seahawks sweep the College of Charleston, Howard, North Carolina Central and UNC Greensboro as the Seahawk Invitational Track & Field Meet wrapped up at the Harold Greene Track & Field Complex.
 
Ten teams competed under near-perfect conditions in the two-day event that featured dual meet scoring. UNCW's men defeated Charleston (102-10), Howard (83-66), N.C. Central (88-57) and UNCG (103-16). UNCW's women topped Charleston (84-82), Howard (92-58), N.C. Central (87-46) and UNCG (99-27).

In the men's competition on Saturday, senior Trey Jones and junior Bryan Brackney recorded first place finishes. Jones, who won the Long Jump competition late Friday, added the Triple Jump title with a leap of 45-11.75. Brackney won the Mile Run with a time of 4:21.28.

On the women's side, seniors Meredith Bozzi, Emily Kimble and Carolyn Edler and sophomore Alexis Dickerson registered first place finishes. Bozzi won the 800 Meters in 2:12.22, Kimble cleared 5-6 in the High Jump, Edler jumped 12-0 in the Pole Vault and Dickerson threw the Shot Put for 40-09.

The Seahawks make their third appearance of the outdoor season on March 17-19, 2016, when they compete in the Shamrock Invitational hosted by Coastal Carolina in Conway, S.C.
