Lott, Peacock Too Much For Camels As UNCW Rolls

BUIES CREEK, North Carolina – Junior Nicole Lott totaled 13 kills and UNCW held Campbell to negative hitting (-.038) as the Seahawks rolled past the Camels, 3-0 (25-12, 25-11, 25-19) in volleyball action at the Hampton Inn & Suites Invitational on Friday at Gore Arena.

The Seahawks stayed perfect at 4-0 on the season while the Camels dipped to 2-3 and saw their modest two-match winning streak halted. UNCW improved to 31-15 all-time against the longtime rival.

Lott held match-high honors with her 13 kills and was the only player in the match to reach double digits. Senior middle hitter Meredith Peacock added nine kills and hit .538 for the match.

Jenny Tait and Rachel Harty paced CU with six and five kills, respectively.

The Seahawks collected 11 total blocks on the match with freshman middle Anna Moss tying her season-high with eight. Senior Lindsay Hartmann finished with 16 digs for the Seahawks.

Quotable: "The team really took care of business tonight which is nice to see for an away match against a rival," said UNCW Head Coach Amy Bambenek. "Across the board there were many players that contributed offensively. Lindsay (Hartmann) did a great job anchoring our serve receive and defense."

How it happened: UNCW dominated CU in the first two sets, with 25 kills and just four hitting errors combined. The Seahawks out blocked their opponent for the fourth time in as many outings this season (11-1).

Notes: UNCW improved to 2-0 on the road with the win … Lott led UNCW in kills for the second time this season … For the second time this season, UNCW's opponent failed to get a hitter into double digit kills … Alyssa Desjardins had 24 assists … Tonight's win was the first for UNCW at Buies Creek since 2004 and gave the Seahawks a 12-11 record in Buies Creek.

Up next: The Seahawks play Sacramento State at 10 a.m. and wrap up the tournament appearance with a 4:30 p.m. start against Norfolk State.
