Seahawks Edge George Mason on Guillou Goal

FAIRFAX, Virginia – Senior forward Katrina Guillou (Bishop Ireton H.S./Fort Washington, Md.) scored the game's only goal in the 23rd minute as UNCW (2-3-0) earned its second win in the last three matches with a 1-0 victory over George Mason (2-2-0) at the Patriots' George Mason Stadium on Friday evening.

"Tonight was a grind it out type of game," Coach Paul Cairney said. "George Mason is so organized and you can tell they are well coached. I felt we created some quality chances throughout the game and their backs and goalkeeper made quality stops.

"I am most pleased we went 90 minutes and did not give up a goal," Cairney added. "Our back four and goalkeeper were tremendous tonight."

Guillou, who scored for the second consecutive match, tallied her third goal of the season with 22:19 remaining in the first half off a throw-in by junior Madison Melnick (William Mason H.S./Mason, Ohio).

Junior goalkeeper Carolyn Huddy (Lake Norman H.S./Huntersville, N.C.) made four saves en route to posting the fourth shutout of her college career.
